Legendary Clippers broadcaster Ralph Lawler retiring after 2018-19 season

The man known for his “oh me, oh my!” call will retire at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Ralph Lawler, who has been the voice of the Los Angeles Clippers for 40 years, will sign off for the final time after 3,000-plus games as the team’s play-by-play announcer.

“It’s hard to imagine life without the Clippers, but this is the time to do it,” he told Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times.

Lawler, who has only missed three contests in his tenure with the team, is an institution in the NBA. He often mentions “Lawler’s Law” during broadcasts, which is his belief that the first team to 100 points goes on to win the game.

“Clippers fans have a heartfelt love for this franchise that might not be shared by any other fans of any other franchise in this town,” Lawler said. “If you love the Clippers, by God, you just love the Clippers, and I have such adoration for those fans.’’
